OCIP INDIA, Tamil Nadu, Tuticorin

Well, this will be my last post before i leave for india tmr. Not tt i've been posting alot though. Anyway, the sentosa pics... too sian to post the rest. Come to me with thumbdrive or sumthing if you want the rest, including the vids. I posted one of them on Youtube.

Just been thinking though, in the car when i came from dinner (something i haven't been doing for a reallllllyy long time), about stuff. Just stuff. 2 main things actually.

1. Qinrui... how leh? how bout the 10% chance of u not moving away. Serious lor, we'll miss ya loads if you do XP. I remembered life in SJI, loads of sentimental stuff too.

2. OCIP... of course. OCIP... why did i really choose to sign up? What am i expecting from the trip? To be painfully honest, i didn't sign up for the kids there in India or for the sake of helping them or for reaching out to those in need. I realised why i felt tt way, ain't it so hypocritical to go all the way to another country to help others when we don't even do tt in our own country. Why then did i sign up? A big reason would be... to have fun, yes, fun. The experience, of going to India perhaps, an experience i doubt would ever pass me by again, or at least for a very long time. I want to learn stuff, to see another person's reality maybe. I'm not sure if i'm making sense right now but let me try to explain things as i see it. We're supposed to go there and teach, which is a rather large portion of the trip. Will they actually learn anything? Wouldn't it be better if a real teacher, trained, decided to sacrifice what they had and decide to stay there to teach? I have a strange feeling that the people there took lots of pain in preparing for our arrival, time and effort they could have put elsewhere. People only go for such trips really... to learn, not to give but to receive. That's not to say we dun give back. In fact i think we all know this and we therefore strive to give as much as we can, BECAUSE we know we will leave having taken away much more. I must be sounding really cynical really but that's not really the kind of attitude i have towards the trip, in fact, i'm feeling really excited. I just can't wait. I hope all goes well.

There was so much more i wanted to type but curiously... they all slipped from my mind... wasted...

PS: Better mentally prep myself for diarrhea, headaches, fever and vomiting. :P Joking.

BYE GUYS! Till the 22nd.
